Association Between Husband Support And Breastfeeding Status An Explanatory Sequential Mixed-Methods Study

Over the past three years, the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in Bengkulu City has decreased. Lack of husband's involvement in breastfeeding practices is one of the factors associated with the failure of exclusive breastfeeding. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the perception of husband supplant and the breastfeeding status of babies 0–6 months in Bengkulu City. This study uses a mixed method, namely, the explanatory design method. The research was conducted in Bengkulu in August – September 2023. This study's population was all mothers with babies aged 0-6 months. Thee sample of this study amounted to 90 mothers Samples were taken by purposive sampling technique Interviews were conducted on withmothers Data were collected using questionnaires a,nd interview guidelines, and subsequenand the information collected was analyzed The results found that as many as 61.1 percent of mothers breastfed babies exclusively and 5,3.3 percent received husband support There was no relationship between the perception of husband support for the breastfeeding status of infants 0 – 6 months (p value = 0.248) Mothers are looking for information about breastfeeding since pregnancy and during breastfeeding so they des,ire to breastfeed exclusively The husband entrusts whatever the mother's decision regarding breastfeeding, so that when the husband and wife decide not to breastfeed the husband also supports for the comfort of the mother To strengthen the mother's decitoon in exclusive breastfeeding, mothers need to get assistance from pregnancy to exclusive breastfeeding.
